About What the Plants!?
What the app does
What the Plants!? is an app for identifying, exploring and caring for plants from all over the world. Using your phone camera you can photograph a leaf, a flower, a fruit or the whole plant and get its scientific and common name in seconds, together with a complete botanical profile covering description, classification, toxicity, conservation status, similar species and care. The app also brings together a database of thousands of species, a plant comparison tool, fertilizing recommendations, a clinic for diagnosing diseases and pests, and a map of shops and nurseries where you can buy plants.
Who it is for
It is designed both for beginners who are just getting started and for collectors, gardeners and professionals. If you have a plant at home and do not know how to care for it, or you want to know whether it is toxic to your dog or cat, you will find the answer here. It is also useful for travellers who want to recognise the vegetation they come across, for botany students and teachers, and for nurseries and shops that want to show their catalogue to people who are passionate about plants.
Who builds it
What the Plants!? is built and maintained by an independent team of botany and technology enthusiasts, who combine verified botanical data with artificial intelligence so that every profile is clear and genuinely useful. We keep expanding the database with new species and translate the content into several languages so the information reaches as many people as possible. Our goal is simple: to help anyone understand the plant world around them and take better care of their plants.
